From learning to sew to sharing the gospel!
In some South–East Asian countries, Christians facing job discrimination find it hard to make ends meet. Here, sewing schools change lives. Students learn practical skills, attend Bible classes, and are even trained to lead songs on the guitar. Miss M grew up in a humble village fellowship and came to Christ at a young age. She longed to learn more about God’s Word, but as a poor pastor’s daughter she could not afford Bible training.
Miss M was thrilled when she was invited to attend a Bible course in a nearby country. On returning home, she realised that she would need a skill to support herself. A sewing teacher in a nearby village heard about Miss M and requested that an extra place be made available on our partners’ sewing course. Miss M was delighted to not only learn to sew, but also to receive training in the Bible and leading songs. She proved to be highly gifted in both areas, so the team asked her to stay longer, leading women’s Bible studies and typing up study notes. Now, she has even joined a team reaching out to villages with the gospel!
