In one of the main towns in Bhutan a young couple are serving God in a small church.
Rapten had served time in prison for an offence committed when he was younger. However, he had managed to pull his life around and had a job in construction. His wife, Namgey, had a serious heart condition and was encouraged to go to church by her sister who was a Christian. Namgey was reluctant. She knew the persecution that followed those who believed in Jesus but as her health deteriorated, she felt increasingly compelled to attend church with her sister. Eventually she decided to go along. The pastor offered to pray for her healing which she accepted, and over time her condition improved. Ongoing prayer led to complete healing and her conversion.
By this time, she and Rapten were dating and so she invited him to come to church with her. God broke into the life of this convict and transformed it. Our partner was then able to take them through a marriage counselling course and subsequently baptised them. Now they are leading this small house church. Both have jobs, he in construction and her as a security guard, but both are committed to serving God.
Training and discipleship are key to seeing this young couple grow the house church they have begun. Our partners are committed to seeing them grow in both knowledge and understanding.
Pray with us for Rapten and Namgey as they serve the Lord and continue to grow in their faith.
