Reflections on a life of ministry in Tibet.
Amala, serving food on the train to some of her friends whom she has not seen for almost four years, is quite different to the shy, reserved and slightly sad girl she once was. Today, she and her husband are leading a team of Tibetan Christians to a conference in India. She had prepared the food well and was looking forward to sharing with the other women.
Over these four years her journey had been full of hope, amid opposition and unkindness from some quarters of her community, and she had clung to the saving power of the Lord Jesus and constantly depended on Him when all seemed bleak and empty. Her first disciple was a lady who had attended the little gatherings she organized regularly to introduce women to the gospel. She had come for a long time before she acknowledged her need of a Saviour. Amala was now discipling her in the Baptism class and she was growing in her faith.
What an encouragement for Amala, God’s gift of a soul whom she would help to grow with the Holy Spirit’s help. This new convert was unable to read or write but with the help of an audio Bible in her heart language she was growing strong in her faith and was now sharing the truth with her daughters. This train journey they were on was a bit like their own Christian walk, sometimes a little bit bumpy and slow, but with the promise that their future and their destination was secure in Christ Jesus.
