Impact in Afghanistan

Making Jesus known under Taliban rule.

Sharing the good news of Jesus under the Taliban is no small feat. Since the group reclaimed power in 2021, many Christians have fled the nation along with others connected to Western powers. Some were unable to leave the country and remain in hiding in rural areas. We also know of Christian leaders who have been arrested, whilst so many people across the nation are facing food shortages that the World Food Programme cannot keep up.

Women and girls are prohibited from attending secondary schools and universities, and opportunities in various professions are also being restricted. We know of one female counsellor who was forced to step down because her role involved contact with males. There is also a suggestion that NGO’s may be shut down in the future.

Nevertheless, we give thanks that the Lord is opening doors for the gospel. We recently heard of an incredible openness among a group of men in a rehabilitation centre, and we rejoice that four men recently gave their lives to the Lord! In addition, a second rehabilitation centre has been approved by the authorities and will open soon.

Elsewhere, we are praying that two dental clinics and a school for deaf children will receive approval and funding to continue their activities, enabling the teams to provide practical care and point people to the love of God in Christ. Please join us in prayer!

HOW TO PRAY

· Give thanks for the four men who have chosen to follow Jesus, and pray that others would find new life in Him.

· Pray that relief and outreach projects would receive approval to continue and would be fully funded.

· Lift up the plight of women and girls, of our Christian brothers and sisters, and of all those facing food shortages. Ask for God’s mercy upon them.

Don't miss out.
